Thor's Helmet (NGC 2359) is an emission nebula located in the constellation Canis Major. It is about 11,960 light years from Earth and is 30 light-years across. The central star is the Wolf-Rayet star WR7, extremely hot and thought to be pre-supernova stage of evolution. Interactions with a nearby large molecular cloud are thought to have contributed to the more complex shape and curved bow-shock structure of Thor's Helmet.
